Admissions requirements

The School of Education admission process has specific requirements that students must meet to enroll in the Master of Science in Education in educational leadership online program. Non-Missouri students should determine whether this program fits the certification requirements for their state.

  • A cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.75
  • Students with a 2.50 to 2.74 GPA must have a 3.00 GPA in six hours of required graduate coursework at Northwest in the major program where admission is desired.

Documentation of one of the following:

  • 3.50 or higher on the analytical writing measure of the GRE
  • Successful completion of another master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least a 2.75 GPA
  • National board certification
  • Successful completion of nationally normed educational performance assessment (MoPTA, EdTPA)
  • Valid state-issued teaching certificate
  • Two years of previous teaching experience with a valid teaching certificate
  • Department analytical writing assessment that is evaluated using a writing scoring guide based on the modified CUNY scales with a score of 4.00 or higher
